I realize that much of the horse world has been hard hit by rain lately, so to some of you these pictures will mean absolutely nothing. Because you get it. But I have to share this one particular afternoon when it went crazy town at Rocking E.
It all started with a 15% chance of rain. Ha! Yeah, right. Look at that sky… Commence the rapid-fire tornado warnings blaring from all mobile devices on the premises!
And then…all of a sudden… Rain. Soooo much rain. 4 inches in about an hour or so.
I was in the barn scurrying around, bringing horses in, and trying to get things done before this gigantor storm blew in. Alas, I did not get done with chores and I was stuck in the barn.
Why you gotta stand in the rain and hail like that, Rusty? Why must you feel the need to worry me?
Aaaaannndd it just kept coming. Oh, looky, you can see Hot Rod and Kona’s old shelter on the right in this picture, and the new metal frame on the left that just went up last week!
And more rain. Can we just appreciate the size of those rain drops?! It was insane! The water quickly filled up every available dry patch of earth, including my freshly-dragged arena. Tear.
And then came the hail.
Little ice nuggets everywhere.
I quickly drove down to my south barn in a rain lull to work on chores there. The sound of the rain and hail was deafening on the metal roof.
It even continued to pour despite the sudden sunlight and blue skies! It was crazy town, I tell you!
And just like that, the storm blew away and left us with a giant sloppy mess. I’m ready for warm, drier weather. How about you?
