First off, I have to commend one of my boarders who, after posting my first Barn Owner Confessional, asked where the broom was so she could sweep-up her hoof pickings!! I don’t know if you actually read my post or it was just a happy coincidence, but THANK YOU. YOU MADE MY DAY!
I’m gong to keep this short and sweet today.
One of my barns houses partial boarders, who muck out their own stalls. I have to brag that the vast majority of my boarders right now do an excellent job on their stalls. As an obsessive compulsive stall-picker, I SOOOOO appreciate that. But, every once in a while, someone will walk in, grab their rake and wheel barrow and set about flinging poo and shavings all over the stall, appearing to be doing a magnificent job at cleaning their stall. Then, they walk out with an air of clean-stall-cockiness.
However, upon entering the stall to feed or water their horse after they’ve left, it appears as though someone scooped-up all the contents of the stall, stuffed it in a giant Ziploc baggie, and gave it a good shake before letting it explode like a bottle of bad champagne all over the stall. Poo and soiled shavings scattered carelessly. Urine spots removed, but not covered back up with clean shavings.
Ohhhhh, the HORROR!
So, when cleaning your stall. Please. PLEASE. Pick out all the poo and pee.
Like, ALL OF IT.
