If you know me well, you’ll know that one of my most favorite things to do is go through the trash.
Who doesn’t like a good dumpster-diving session?
I have acquired lots of useful things from the trash, even the trash can in my own barn! For instance, I’ve found a good set of reins, horse blankets, halters, brushes, half-used bottles of fly spray, etc. I just don’t understand why people throw away good stuff?!
This can get a little awkward, I admit. A couple years ago, I started letting people know if I’ve dug their old possessions out the trash, because even I have a small degree of pride. Things can get weird if your boarder pulls up to see you putting their old blanket on your horse that they just threw away the day before. #awkward
A few weeks ago when I dropped off my youngest at preschool, I noticed a little cart sitting by the dumpster. I inquired about and then boldly asked if I could take it. They said it was trash (WHAT?!) and I was welcome to have it. So, I grabbed that cart and ran!
On the way home, I started rolling ideas around on what to do with it. Of course, the ideas turned horse-related… I had this idea to move all my grooming and first aid supplies into the cart, to make all my supplies more manageable and organized. I’ve been cramming most of my stuff into an old Ariat bag. I love this bag, and I might purchase one again in the future. But, for now, I think it’s safe to say that it’s pretty worn out.
I don’t even know what that stuff is. I didn’t put that stuff in there. Nope, not me. I’m a clean person! Must have been some other dirty horse person…
Ew. Okay, fine! It was me. Good thing I found this cart, so I can get clean and organized!
I’m pleased with how it turned out! I put my grooming supplies on top and poulticing supplies on the side…
First aid in the middle…
Clippers and extra boots on the bottom…
I love my latest dumpster find! Are you a kindred spirit and also secretly love to look through the trash??
