Remember that nasty Ariat tote I mentioned yesterday? The really yucky one?
Yeah, that one.
After I transferred all my things to my “new” cart, I just sat this tote next to it and called it my trash bag for a couple weeks. Mainly, because I needed a trash can. But more honestly…because I couldn’t bring myself to immediately throw it away. As I said, I just don’t understand how people can throw great stuff away!
This little bag is super handy. When I first bought it, I actually used it as a casual horsey purse and then as I tired of that, I deemed it my grooming tote. It has lots of different little pockets and compartments. It served it’s use very well for several years and I felt I owed it to this little bag to continue it’s usable life.
First, I dumped out all the gross things inside. Then, I sprayed the inside out. Once the majority of the greasy residue was gone (I think a bottle of hoof oil spilled…), I put it in the washing machine.
It turned out pretty darn clean!
I decided to hang the bag in front of one of my full care stalls. This particular horse’s owner doesn’t live in the area, and I’ve been temporarily storing a separate set of brushes just for him in an old bucket. The handle was falling off the bucket (I promise, I do throw things away), so it made sense to pass my beloved bag to him.
Ah, the joys of recycling. I feel so warm and fuzzy.
And if you’re in the market for a good grooming bag, this is the one for you!
