Many moons ago I shared with y’all that I was in the market for a new set of grooming brushes. Because mine looked like this.
I knew I mainly needed a dandy brush and a coarse mud brush. There was a tie for my favorite brand: Teddy’s Tack Trunk or Haas from Smartpak. Your opinions were very helpful to me in my post! I got excellent feedback and both brands seemed recommended. I ended up choosing the Haas brushes! I will likely purchase TTT brushes sometime in the future, but the mud brush wasn’t available and eventually the free shipping and AQHA discount won out for SmartPak.
I purchased the Haas Noir brush and the Haas Mustang brush.
I felt like I had never brushed a horse before when I first tried them out. They were so luxurious! The body brush was light weight and fit perfectly in my hand. Even thought the natural bristles were soft, they quickly flicked the dirt off my horses’ coats.
Don’t mind my cuticles.
The Mustang brush was super stiff, with shorter dense bristles. The tiny copper wires worked great to grab dirt and hair. It was perfect for the start of shedding season. I had to use a comb to get all the hair out several times, but after spring time I won’t have that problem nearly as much.
They were a bit pricey, but come on, look at my old brush! I feel like it was money well-spent, and I plan to take really good care of them. Overall, I fully recommend the Haas brushes from SmartPak! They would be an excellent addition to any equestrian’s grooming caddy.
