I’m honestly a little nervous about reviewing these goals, because I know I didn’t tackle them all like I wanted. The time just kept slipping through my fingers, and more urgent projects seemed to take precedence. I found myself stalling to make this post, but I have to write it and be honest about it so I can move on to summer projects!
So, here goes.
Here are the goals I had set for the Spring at Rocking E:
Here is what I accomplished and what I didn’t:
First off, whoever invented Round-Up is a genius and I’m forever in debt to them. Unfortunately, those nasty weeds will try their darnedest to grow right back, so that first box on my goal list will remain in that priority spot all summer long.
I did attend a horse show! Go me! Gracie and I had a great time, and I will add that to our summer goal list as well.
I did not go a trail ride, but I have every intention to do so. I might take a little group to the lake, or call up Stephanie and meet up with her! In the very least, I need to ride down my dirt roads and expose my horses to new things.
I got the majority of all these panels and old gates picked up! I used some cowgirl ingenuity and drove around with the tractor, picking things up. It felt so good to be able to haul off such heavy stuff by myself. We have been replacing old gates, with new custom-welded ones so I only have two more gates to pick up, and then I’ll be completely done with that goal!
I did not buy a rope. I didn’t even think about buying a rope. This is one of those goals that lurks in the dark corners of your mind and heart. It’s something I really want to do, but if I were really honest, it just seems impossible. “Me? Rope? Who are you kidding, Allie? You are too old to learn that. Other cowgirls have been roping for years. You’re way behind. Plus, you don’t even own a rope horse! Your horses will probably throw a fit if they see a rope swinging over their heads!” And so I shut that door subconsciously (or consciously) and tell myself there are more important things to do than teach myself to rope.
That’s a wrap for the spring of 2017! Stay tuned for my Summer project list! It’s a doozie!
