Everybody loves a blog hop. And everybody seems to love a 10 Questions Blog Hop, so that’s what I’m gonna do! This is the first in a series of several summer blog hops I plan to host.
When I brainstormed the questions, I tried to think of questions that might provide insight into my fellow bloggers’ lives, both horsey and non. I love getting to know y’all! Please join in and comment that you’ve joined the blog hop!
- What is your earliest, clearest horse memory?
- Describe the perfect summer day.
- Are you reading anything right now? Tell me about it!
- Do you follow a celebrity (horsey or non) that you’re embarrassed to say fascinates you? Tell me. NOW.
- What is your single most biggest horsey dream or goal?
- If you were at Starbucks right now, what would you order?
- What is your biggest equine pet peeve?
- With everything going on politically and in the media, tell me, do you follow it religiously? Tune it out? Or something in between?
- If you had to show your horse to a song, what would you choose?
- What are you most looking forward to this summer?
Me first! But, promise me I won’t look like an idiot and you’ll join in too 😉
I remember many moments with my first horse, but the clearest memory I have is when I dewormed him. My mentor, Marsha, was showing me all I needed to do to get him healthy again, and deworming was on the list. We haltered him and she handed me the tube and said, “You do it.” To a new horse girl, I was terrified. Mainly terrified of failing in front of Marsha. I remember I fumbled with it so badly I ended up with more wormer on me than in his mouth, and he stepped on the toe of my brand-spanking-new boots. He is still terrible to deworm.
My perfect summer day would include an early morning ride on both my geldings, taking my girls for a swim (getting gorgeously tan without burning), laying in my bed for a long, uninterrupted nap, dinner out at my favorite Chinese restaurant, and snow cones afterward. That’s not too much to ask, right?!
Girl, am I reading anything?! Who wrote these questions anyway?! 😉 I just finished the Royal Spyness mystery series by Rhys Bowen, so I started her other Molly Murphy mystery series. It’s set at the turn-of-the-century in NYC, with a young Irish lady detective at the center of the stories. SO GOOD.
The first person who comes to mind is Fallon Taylor. If you don’t know who she is, she’s a famous barrel racer who has made her mark in the rodeo world by speaking encouragement to all women working towards their equine dreams. Depending on who you talk to, though, she is sometimes described as flashy, vain, and cheesy. I’ve also heard whispers among barrel racers who say she’s a terrible rider. Whatever. Haters gonna hate. She’s won huge championships and has built an incredible equine empire out of pure grit and determination. I think there’s a lot to learn from Fallon Taylor.
I would love love love to win a buckle.

When horse owners do not take the care of their horses seriously.
I listen to NPR in the mornings and in the car, but that’s about all the time I can give emotionally to our current politics.
OOoooooohhhhhh… I have thought of this so many times and I can never decide. If I had to choose today, it would be Coldplay’s “Adventure of a Lifetime.”
I’m really happy to just take a break from my normal workload during the school year. I can finally breathe!
