While there are many horses at Rocking E, I have three of my own special guys I’d love for you to meet!
Let’s start with the patriarch of the family, Rusty. We don’t have a whole lot of stats on old man Rusty, because he was a rescue project. You can read more about him here. Rusty was my first horse and granted me a wealth of experiences. Adopting Rusty forced me to dive-in head-first to the horse world. Veterinary care was the first and most valuable tool I learned with Rusty. I cannot thank him enough and he will forever be my most beloved horsey friend. Currently he resides on pasture with his good buddy, and he’s doing fairly well in health. Soundness will always be an issue, but a full set of corrective shoes is what I’ve found to be the most helpful method to keep him comfortable.
Next up is eight year old quarter horse, Ibee Hotroddin, otherwise known as, Hot Rod. Hot Rod is a low and slow kinda guy. Hence the name 😉 I adore this horse. I first fell in love with him because of his sweet disposition and his red roan color. Oh, and his booty. He’s a pretty steady mount who has really bumped up my confidence level. I’ve taught him some things and he’s some me some, as well! My ambitions for Hot Rod are to compete in ranch riding successfully and continue to make him into a well-broke mount for my girls.
Booty shot! You quarter horse fans will understand;)
Last, but far from least is the youngest in the bunch, Shining Spark. Kona is a seven year old quarter horse that my husband bought as a yearling. I did NOT know we were purchasing a horse that day… I’ll let you imagine how well that went over 🙂 Thankfully, Kona has turned out to be a total superstar. He has excellent reined cowhorse breeding, and has a few moves to prove it. I’m excited for my future with Kona. My dreams for him are also to compete in the ranch riding classes. My daughter claims that he’s going to be her primary riding horse because “he goes fast.” We’ll see about that:)
