I thought I’d try my hand at That Red Mare’s facetious Honest Horse Sale blog hop. Enjoy!
For sale: 7 year old American Quarter Horse “Ibee Hotroddin”
This extra-wide roan would be excellent for any western rider to add to their string. Knows all the ranch riding maneuvers and performs them with expert sloth-like slow motion. Hot Rod is easy-to-catch and loves to hand graze. Hand-grazing must be limited, though, to slow down his, er, growth. Hot Rod is super broke and can be pulled out of the pasture to ride after long breaks. In fact, he really prefers long breaks.
Hot Rod requires an extra large sized saddle pad. New owner must buy leather punch to make new holes on back cinch–trust me, your back cinch is NOT long enough.New owner should not attempt to ride English. Unless you want to embarrass yourself. Because…
This gelding loves to be groomed, but only verrrrry gently. Brushing hard and vigorously pulls his sensitive skin and makes his fat rolls ripple. Watch out, he might just pin his ears at you if you’re too heavy-handed.
Hot Rod is very forgiving under saddle. He doesn’t have the name Hot Rod, for nothing–he’s a low’n’slow kind of guy. Spurs do not bother him at all. Just go ahead and buy the biggest rowel possible. You’ll need them. He’s also excellent with carrying children. He’s very gentle and won’t move quickly. Ever.
He’s great outside the arena, as long as his brother-from-another-mother is by his side, otherwise he will whinny and call until his body shakes so hard you fall out of the saddle.
Hot Rod is also great at shows. As long as you immediately separate him from whichever horse he was trailered with. He makes friends VERY fast and thus commences the whinnying. Also, don’t ask him to wait too long for his classes. He WILL start pawing aggressively making people stare.
Hot Rod would be great for owners short on time. He doesn’t require endless loving and snuggles, a quick two-pat succession on his shoulder is all he wants. Hot Rod will also save you from spending too much on your boarding and feed. He is best when living outside full time. Non-stop kicking will begin approximately four hours after he’s been stalled. Also, He basically gets fat on air.
Hot Rod is a one-of-a-kind horse. Perfect low-maintenance confidence-booster. Contact Allie to set up a viewing!
