Rocking E is officially full with a wait list! Whoop whoop! My last few boarders are trickling in for the fall semester and, I’m so excited to get to know all my newbies and their horses. In the past/next few days we’ll get our last horses from all over–Kansas, Nebraska, California, Illinois, Minnesota, Texas, and one last, but not least, newly-gelded colt off the track from just an hour away. I have ropers, barrel racers, hunters, greenies, trail riders, piddlers… You name it and we have it! I love the diversity!
But I don’t love…surprises. I must admit, though, that they keep my life interesting. Albeit stressful at times… Let me share some of my stressful surprises, which I’m trying to turn into enthusiastic equine challenges!
- Some of my lovely new ponies have arrived with old wounds:
Who doesn’t love an old wound?! Pshhh, I personally love finding old wounds to care for. Especially the ones with LOTS of proud flesh.
- I have a couple horses who need to put on a couple pounds.
Er, I mean, a couple hundred. And quickly, because Oklahoma winter winds will be whipping down the plain in no time. I love a good race, don’t you?!
- Two of my partial care mares–with the exact same name–LOVE to play in water tanks!
Gosh, how did they know I enjoyed constantly refilling water tanks?! It’s uncanny! Silly mares!
- Oh, this one is good. I have one quirky gelding who likes to play dead.
I mean NAP!! Gosh, you get me every time, Finnegan! This horse has a great sense of humor! I’m sure it’s HILARIOUS watching me have a heart attack, patting your neck, and repeating your name louder and louder until it’s shrill and panicky, until you groggily open your eyes! What a jokester! You even fool the mare next door!
Here’s to a new semester at Rocking E! May it be full of…surprises! 😉
